Unions, Awards, Recognitions, Exhibitions:
The committee of journalistic photographers in occupied Palestinian
lands and treasurer in 1989.
He joined the union of Arabic photographers in Baghdad, Iraq 1999
and created the Sunbula organization of Jerusalem photographers.
Abu Turk exhibited his journalistic photographs in Jerusalem from
1890-1990.
Abu Turk completed a course on photography and television in the
Italian capital of Rome.
During his coverage of the Intifada, Abu Turk supplied his
photographs to the Worldwide Image agency in Jerusalem, the French
press agency, and to Reuters for whom he continues to work today. He
also supplied, and still supplies photographs to Palestinian
newspapers and magazines including, but not limited to, Al Fajr, Al
Shaab, Al Nahar, Al Quds and Al Youm, Al Awdah and Al Bayader Al
Seyasi.
Abu Turk has held exhibits in the cities, villages and refugee camps
of his occupied country. In addition he has had exhibitions in
various educational and comprehensive study institutes. He has shown
an exhibition entitled “Al Quds Fe Al Eyoon” (Jerusalem in the
eyes), a special observation of the occurrences in the Holy City,
particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surrounding cities.
The photojournalist Abu Turk participated in several international
exhibits starting in Rome and other Italian cities 1989. He has
since had exhibitions in Portugal, Jordan, Qatar, Iraq, Germany,
Greece, several American states and Istanbul, Turkey.
Abu Turk collected first his gold medallion for Palestinian press
photographer and the shield of armor at the Baghdad international
festival in 1995. He has also won tens of other medals and
recognitions at international photojournalist competitions honoring
his work delivering the message of the Palestinian people living
under the yoke of Israeli occupation.
